This is The Number One  speaking.  I am playing  the  role of one of  THE LUNA BROTHERS  in  Mrs Noughtfear's  Number Story  as  The U  in QUEENSLAND.   Does your  teacher think The One Times
Table is easy?  Why not put her to the test?  Ask her what 11 x 11 is,  and she should surely know it is 121. Then ask  what  111 x 111 is,  and if  she doesn't  know it  is 12321,  that  would  be your  golden opportunity  to  become a  Teacher Number Teacher.  Did you  notice that  121  and  12321  read the
same way forwards and backwards?  These numbers  are called palindromes because they read the same from either side.

Examples of  Word Palindromes are MUM, DAD and BUB, and examples of  Sentence Palindromes are LID OFF A DAFFODIL, TOO FAR AWAY A WAR AFOOT and MAD AM I MADAM.  Learn about palindromes because they are an important pattern in numbers.

The Ones form palindromatic numbers when multiplied by themselves,  for example when you multiply  111 111 111  by  111 111 111,  the answer is 12345678987654321.  Mrs Noughtfear calls Numbers
like this Rainbow Numbers because you can draw a rainbow over the number connecting each same digit.  She calls Numbers  that  are  not  Rainbow  Numbers, Wonky  Numbers  because  each side is different.

Practice The One Times Table  by counting from One To Nine,  and then count from Nine To One. It is important to  practice Times Tables forwards and backwards as it helps you remember  them.

See if you can beat Ollie. Once you have mastered The One Times Table both ways, it will set you up                                                                        For The Nine Times Table
